Career Story

My passion for residential engineering started at the age of 11, and I like to think that’s where my career story began. At that age, I would spend all day playing a game called “The Sims” where I would build and decorate residential houses.

Fast forward to several years later – I graduated from high school with the intention of being an Architect, but my love of math and science shifted me into engineering. I went off to the University of North Florida (SWOOP!) to get a Civil Engineering degree and make my passion a reality.

Then, as I was heading into one of my final exams, I received the amazing opportunity to move to Frederick, MD and join the Apex Mid-Atlantic Team! It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Now each day I get to do exactly what 11 year old Becca always dreamed – structural engineering design for residential houses… plus some light commercial too!

Personal Touch

Not only do I love structural design, but I also love interior design as well. Most weekends you can find me shopping at home decor stores, painting a wall, or re-organizing the built-ins in my kitchen! I also love visiting coffee shops and taking care of my many house plants. However, what I enjoy most of all is spending time with my family: my husband (who I met and married right in downtown Frederick!), my daughter, and my cat. They are my world!
