Career Story

“I decided at a later stage in life to return to school and change careers. I always had a passion for Architecture, and it was originally what I really wanted to do coming out of high school.

While in school I started designing custom homes for a few local builders. This gave me a great opportunity to learn and work with clients directly through the entire building process.

After a few years of doing this, I was hired by Toll Brothers. I quickly rose through the ranks to move from drafter to Job Captain, to BIM Manager. I worked with them for 5 years gaining a ton of knowledge with engineering, and different market requirements ranging from Seattle to Florida. This experience gave me a good understanding of varied building techniques and municipality requirements can be across the country.

I have learned through the years to always ask the questions and get it right the first time. I have also learned you cannot do it alone and that you need the right team, with the right attitude and the right culture to truly succeed. Knowledge transfer and taking the time to invest in your peers is what will make the job enjoyable.”
